Nov.21st-23rd, guide by Chinese Nutrition Congress, Chinese maternal and child nutrition congress held the maternal and child nutrition annual symposium 2019 in Shenzhen. The theme of this conference is "Early Thousand Days of Nutrition in Early Life: Academic Frontiers and Grassroots Practices". Top authoritative experts in maternal and child nutrition, well-known scholars, medical and nutrition, and health practitioners from China, the United States, and the Netherlands participated in the conference academic event.
Conference Scene
As an important partner of Chinese Nutrition Society Maternal and Child Nutrition congress, Biostime Institute of Nutrition and Care (BINC) by setting the booth, exchanged the latest advanced research and achievements with more than 1300 attendees by interacted with BINC VR explore game, which introduce BINC latest research, scientific research platform and maternal and child research funding programme, highly focus by the attendees.
BINC booth receives highly attention
Except for the booth interactive activity, we also join and listen the meeting report. A total of 30 conference reports and special reports were arranged at the conference. Among them, there were 12 research reports on baby's important "rations" of breast milk and formula, which became the focus of the conference. Here we summarize the main information of the report for everyone.
Breast milk component research
· At the meeting, many academic report are focusing on the research of breast milk key component function, such as α-whey protein, casein, SN-2 structural lipids, HMO etc.
· The effects of mother's lactation diet on breast milk component are summarized as follows: 1. The percentage of fatty acid, vitamin A, D, K1, C, B1, B2, B6, B12, choline; 2. Breast milk components identified to have no significant relationship to the breastmilk diet include total protein, carbohydrates, calcium, zinc, and iron; 3. Breastmilk components with uncertain dietary relationships include iodine, fat, Nucleotide, HMO, vitamin E; 4. Supplementation of fatty acids during lactation can increase the content of fatty acids in breast milk; 5. Supplementation of vitamin D3 to breast milk can significantly increase the content of vitamin D3 in breast milk; 6. Supplemental minerals during lactation can increase the content of corresponding minerals in breast milk.
Breast milk component testing methods
As an important component in breastmilk, protein has diverse components and complex structures, and has not been thoroughly studied so far. Protein detection methods are particularly important for us to explore the composition of breast milk. The conference shared a new method of protein detection-targeted proteomics analysis. Targeted proteomics is a discipline that accurately quantifies and identifies a complete set of proteins expressed in a genome or specific target proteins in a complex mixed system. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry is based on the concept and database of proteomics analysis. It introduces a combination of enzymolysis and tandem mass spectrometry, and uses isotope-labeled short peptide internal standard method for quantification. It has the characteristics of high sensitivity, excellent accuracy and good selectivity. It has been successfully applied to the detection of bovine α-lactalbumin content in dairy products, which is a technical guarantee for improving the quality of raw materials. It is also suitable for the detection of bovine α-lactalbumin in products with different contents, and provides technical support for the product.
Special formula powder development ideas
Experts conduct comprehensive analysis from the aspects of breast milk composition research, cow milk composition research, infant gastrointestinal digestive function and characteristics, authoritative guidelines at domestic and abroad, basic research and clinical research verification, and explore how to develop formula milk powder for special infant groups.
Goat milk research progress
This conference also brought you a relatively new theme, namely the research progress of goat milk. The market for goat milk formula is gradually rising, and the research on goat milk is also deepening. The report comprehensively analyzed the differences in the composition of breast milk, goat milk and cow milk. Studies have shown that goat milk contains more α-whey protein and β-casein than cow milk, is closer to breast milk, is easier to be digested, and αs1 -Lower casein content, this component is less tolerant to gastrointestinal conditions. In general, goat milk and cow milk have similar nutritional components, and the ingredients are safe. It is worth further studying the protein, fat, oligosaccharide and other components in goat milk in the future.
BINC will continue to cooperate with domestic and foreign scientific research forces to continue to increase research investment in breast milk and formula, including emerging research on goat milk ingredients, in order to provide comprehensive solutions for the health of the global mother and infant population.
