BINC re-appears at the top international academic event-ESPGHAN
Glasgow, England43322019/06/06 Favorite

On June 6-8, 2019, the 52nd Annual Meeting of European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) was held in Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland. ESPGHAN Annual Meeting is the top academic event in the field of infant nutrition in Europe. As one of the most authoritative and influential pediatric medical organizations in the world, ESPGHAN pays close attention to clinical diagnosis and treatment and frontier research in stomach and intestine, liver diseases and nutrition in pediatrics. Every year, ESPGHAN attracts much attention from the academic community. This year, more than 4,500 experts and scholars from more than 90 countries participated in the meeting. They discussed the latest research hotspots in pediatrics and shared the latest research results.

As an authoritative international academic organization focusing on scientific research and providing comprehensive solutions for mothers and infants, Biostime Institute of Nutrition and Care (BINC) has deeply participated in ESPGHAN Annual Meeting for the fourth time, set up exhibition booths and invited two top masters to give excellent academic speeches on intestinal microecology, and shared the latest research and advanced information with experts in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutriology from all over the world to jointly improve the health level of children worldwide.

[BINC’s development achievements are remarkable.]

BINC is an open platform for international public benefit exchange, focusing on intestinal microecology, breast milk nutrition, skin care, psychology and other research fields, and annually investing nearly 3 million yuan of public welfare research funds to fund innovative research projects focusing on maternal and infant health in China and Europe. At the ESPGHAN Meeting, BINC demonstrated its internationalization process and research results of some fund projects, attracting a large number of experts who seek cooperation opportunities. Prof. Raanan Shamir, Chairman of ESPGHAN Meeting, also paid a special visit to the BINC booth and highly appreciated BINC’s continuous investment and contribution in maternal and infant research.

[Breast milk oligosaccharides (HMO) continue to be the hotspot]

HMO is the third largest solid component in breast milk, which is second only to lactose and fat. Studies have shown that HMO is beneficial to intestinal health, immune function and brain development. At this meeting, many enterprises demonstrated the research results and products related to HMO. HMO is still the focus of attention in the nutriology fields. In recent years, H&H Group continues making efforts in basic scientific research of HMO, and will launch infant formula milk powder and probiotic products containing HMO in many markets around the world. The infant formula milk powder and probiotic products manufactured by H&H Group also showed up on the exhibition booth, attracting the attention of many experts.

[BINC satellite meeting focuses on the recent progress of research on intestinal microecology of infants]

Intestinal microecology has always been a hot topic of maternal and infant health, and is also the critical focus field of BINC. At the meeting, BINC has the honor to invite Prof. Jon Vanderhoof, a gastrointestinal/nutritional doctor at Boston Children’s Hospital, Prof. Susan Prescott, founder and former chairman of DOHAD, to give excellent academic lecture on microecology and human health, which attracts nearly 500 pediatric experts. Prof. Vanderhoof believes that natural childbirth, improved dietary habits and addition of probiotics and prebiotics to the diet can improve intestinal microecology and reduce the risk of allergy and immune diseases. Prof. Prescott has put forward an interesting theory on how environmental microecology, human microecology and the earth ecosystem interact and restrict each other, which is thought-provoking.

[BINC Final Review of China-Europe Funding Programme for 2019 was held successfully]

In addition, on June 5, BINC held the 10th Board Meeting in Glasgow, inviting all BINC board members and invited expert Prof. Wang Zhixu to attend the meeting. At the meeting, the scientific adviser reviewed the public welfare fund projects of BINC China and BINC Geneva in 2019. After rigorous scientific discussions, BINC finally decided to fund 10 projects, among which 5 projects are from China and 5 from Europe. At the same time, our board members also made heated discussion on BINC’s future global scientific activities and how to maximize the use of BINC’s internal scientific resources, and put forward many valuable suggestions on the future development of BINC.

On June 8, the 52nd ESPGHAN Annual Meeting was successfully concluded. At this meeting, BINC shared and exchanged the advanced information in pediatrics with many top European scholars, obtaining a lot and attracting more and more attention. With the mission of “focusing on science and caring for mothers and infants”, BINC will organize and participate in more academic activities at local and abroad, and cooperate with academic circles to prompt the development of maternal and infant health research.
