In the evening of Sep, 13^th, taking the opportunity of the 19^th National Pediatric Academic Conference, agrand inauguration ceremony of Biostime Institute of Nutrition and Care (BINC) was held in Chongqing, China. Nearly a hundred of pediatric experts from homeand abroad were invited to participate in the ceremony to witness theinauguration of BINC, including Mr. Patrice Malard, the Executive Director ofBINC, Xu Sa, the Executive Director of BINC, Professor Yu Huimin from the Children’s Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and Professor Robert H. Lustig from the Faculty of Pediatric Endocrinology in University of California, San Francisco.

 Grand Inauguration Ceremony of BINC

Following a countdown, the inauguration ceremony of BINC was grandly launched in the dazzling lights of the assembly hall, which attracted all the attention from the audience. A short video was played to highlight thesacred ideal of BINC: “Dedicate to Science, Care Mothers and Children”. As a non-profitable academic organization, BINC will devote itself to creating an internationalized platform for scientific research and exchanges.

Opening address made by Mr. Patrice, the Executive Director of BINC

Mr. Patrice, the Executive Director of BINC, delivered the speech for the opening ceremony. He pointed out that BINC was a unique organization in that it specialized itself as a health solution provider for mothers and children in an all-round multi-disciplinary manner involving with nutriology, nursing science, psychology, and so on. The academic organization of BINC consists of two professional teams: Science Advisory Committee and an expert team withmembers from various disciplinary fields. The science advisors will play an important role in guiding research orientation, determining research projects supported by BINC fund, and organizing academic activities such as seminars. While the duty of the experts from each disciplinary area is to share their academic standpoints in some expert lectures and expert interviews, and to actively conduct academic exchanges with their peers and propose research programs. Mr.Patrice also mentioned that BINC’s exchange platform was functioning via two channels—websites and Wechat (Weixin), where series of academic activities heldby BINC such as academic discussions, expert interviews and expert lectures canbe disseminated to facilitate the exchanges with professionals. Also, BINC will guarantee the investment for research purposes, especially the dollars put into CDC projects, cooperative research projects and fellowship of excellent PhD research projects. Finally, Mr. Patrice highlighted that the huge amount of investmenton BINC from Biostime will cover its routine financing and operating businessas well as the running of the technical center newly established in Guangzhou where state-of-the-art laboratories and research platforms for micro-ecological studies, early education explorations, and skincare product tests were build up to serve BINC’s needs.

After the address of Mr. Patrice, two BINC scientific consultants, Prof. Bo Lonnerdal and Prof. Su Yixiang, who were not able toattend the ceremony, delivered their congratulations to the inauguration of BINC via video. Then came the historical moment of the BINC inauguration ceremony—the “Shui Man BINC” Ceremony, which symbolizes supports and blessings to BINC and smooth cooperation between the parties based on the auspicious implication of “water” in traditional Chinese culture. It was performed cooperatively by Mr. Patrice Malard and Prof. Yu Huimin to deliver an announcement that the institute was officially launched at that moment. With the water constantlyfilled into the tank, the logo of BINC, sparkling with beautiful colors, gradually presented to the audience.

This historical moment will be commemorated with all the guests proposing a toast to celebrate the inauguration of BINC, followed by magnificent bands and crystal ballet performances, which pushed the ceremony into a new high. The guests chatted in a pleasant atmosphere to explore the possible approaches of cooperation with the institute.
